Bees are able to learn virtually any kind of odour molecules. Therefore it can be used in a wide variety of applications where sensitive, cost effective and rapid detection of targets are of concerned. However, research shows that some molecules are easier to learn than the others. At Inscentinel, we have a rigorous set of systematic testing to investigate the performance of bees for each chemical compound. Through our research programs and collaborations with companies and institutions we have developed detection protocols for a variety of applications:

1.  Security screening - for plastic explosives, drugs and chemical weapons

2.  Early medical diagnosis - of cancers and diseases through detection of      characteristic indicator molecules in breath, blood and urine

3.  Food quality control - applications include detecting ripeness of fruit and      vegetables before visible signs of deterioration through molecular recognition of      specific indicator molecules.

In addition to these areas, we are seeking partners and collaborators to enable further development of our system into new areas and refinement of the technology for specific application areas.
