Automatic Training Unit

Training is the most critical component of the system. Each training cycle of a single bee takes around 1 minute. After 5 cycles the bee is then ready for detective work. In comparison, dogs need to undergo 6 months of intensive training. The rapid training of bees has big benefits in cost and time. However, it does come with a challenge - the need for precise control over the training procedure and training target odour.

At Inscentinel, we have developed an automatic training unit to mechanically reproduce the tried-and-tested manual training protocol with strict control over timing and feeding. The precision of the mechanical instrument eliminates errors caused by a human trainer.

Our current prototype is currently under construction. Once completed, this labaratory prototype will train around 160 bees in 4 hours to any target molecule.
